Three people were shot outside the massive complex at 20 W. Mosholu Pkwy. S. earlier in May. Beside shootings, parents say children are often beaten up and picked on.
"Young males [aren't] safe. In this area ... I think there's about six gangs," tenant Carolyn Smith said.
The tenants' organization recently met with Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera and state Sen. Efrain Gonzalez, along with other officials, at a closed-door meeting. The lawmakers and tenants talked about creating streets designated for playing, peer mediation groups and sports programs.
