Residents say the temporary bridge to City Island quickly became overcrowded when the weather warmed up this week, and they fear that could become a new trend.
Earlier this week, a car crash caused massive delays when two vehicles collided across the narrow lanes.
Barbara Dolensek, a member of the local civic association, says drivers don't understand the tight bridge and its turns when they speed across.
The Department of Transportation says it conducted extensive testing before opening the bridge.
"The temporary bridge was designed to accommodate all commercial vehicles and emergency responders in compliance with the required guidelines," the DOT told News 12 in a statement.
