One of the few authentic Japanese restaurants in the Bronx is looking to bridge the gap between community, culture and food.
Minato offers dishes such as sushi, sashimi and even nontraditional plates like ceviche and vegan options.
"We have a traditional chef who's been in the scene for over 33 years. He's done everything, seen everything, and he wants to be creative," says Mark Lu, co-owner. "We wanted to create that knowledge of Japanese culture, not just Japanese food."
Chef Jay is the mastermind behind the jam-packed bites, with his signature dish being the Minato Roll- a traditional crab roll topped with crab salad and Chilean sea bass.
The bar inside the establishment offers 24 different types of sake as well as cocktails.
Minato is open every day from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. except on Tuesdays.
