The unexpected closing of a Brooklyn movie theater has left a void in the community, with movie-goers now having to travel to other neighborhoods to see their favorite films.
For more than two decades, the Regal Cinema on Court Street has been a staple in Downtown Brooklyn.
The sudden closing comes as a shock to many in the community. While a spokesperson for the owner of the property did not disclose the reason for the theater’s closure, they did release a statement saying, "We share the community's disappointment in the sudden closing of the Regal theater. We are in the process of assessing the situation and gathering more information."
While it’s not yet clear what the future holds for the theater, some people remain hopeful that a new theater will open in its place.
News 12 reached out to Regal Cinemas to find out why the theater closed and hasn’t heard back yet.
