Some uninsured Bronx residents are paying more than others for some prescription drugs and the City Council wants it to end.
In its latest report, the Council Oversight and Investigations Committee found there is a disparity in prescription drug prices from one pharmacy to another. The drugs that were investigated were popular ones that treat common ailments in the Bronx, such as asthma and diabetes.
Council Speaker Christine Quinn is blaming the state Department of Health for failing to post an online database of drug prices. Quinn is calling on the city and state to create the database as well as launch a public awareness campaign about generic medications.
