Welcome back when you hear that sound, you know what that means. We're on storm watch with storm watch team, meteorologist Christy Campana. So Christy, we know the rain is coming, but that's not all right. Yeah. No, we can't rule out any gusty winds either. And those two combined really create for a messy kind of system that's headed our way. And like we said, 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected and that majority is gonna be overnight tonight and that can create some problems for your morning commute if there is localized flooding, which like we said, we can't rule out, but let's go straight to it and see, you know, an hour by hour where the system is coming in and this is two o'clock today. So we see the system just approaching here for the afternoon and we could see some batches of heavy downpours throughout the afternoon. But the majority of this is going to be a little bit later. This is 3 p.m. We see this light to moderate rain, these yellow colors really on the outskirts of the city and then maybe a break here and there by around five o'clock your dinner time. But then the majority of this hits around 8 to 10 o'clock and we see this orange, yellow and red and this is our more moderate, steady and even heavy rain that is headed our way and that's to continue overnight for your overnight hours. And that majority of it just past 1 a.m. two AM, we see it start to get slightly lighter around then and then by 6 a.m. we see it really start to push off and push out to the ocean and it clears up just a bit. We can't rule out a lingering shower until around seven or 8 a.m. And then it clears up really by mid to late morning and we could see even the sun come back out around your mid to mid morning to afternoon before the sunset, which is a good thing, but that flooding can still stick around and that comes with these gusty winds. So sustained winds of around 15 to 20 miles an hour and this is 8, 30 twenties we're seeing and then uh change in direction. This becomes a north wind as it's passing and we could see up to 3040 miles an hour. So really take anything in outdoors and just be cautious through the next couple of days. And let's take a look at 10 day forecast. We are in storm watch overnight. We're gonna see heavy rain, gusty winds and that breezy and those gusty winds continue a bit into your Tuesday. It's gonna be breezy but the sun is out and temperatures are back to seasonable for the rest of the week.

We're looking at. Yes, lots of rain coming our way. So definitely be careful if you're going out this afternoon and evening. We are looking at that chance for flash flooding all across Western Connecticut with gusts up to 30 to 50 MPH. So what does that mean? Power outages anchor down those holiday decorations and with the chance of flooding, if you do see any of that high water, remember to turn around. Don't drown. What are we looking at for the afternoon showers pushing in from 1 to 3 heavy stuff riving three or four, then we are going to be seeing those scattered showers and downpours the steadier, heavier rain after sunset towards 910 o'clock. This is when we could see that flood potential gusty winds as well as lightning and thunder with this. And on the back side could even see maybe a snow flake or two in the higher elevations of Litchfield County come Monday morning with those temperatures dropping from the fifties and sixties today, forties into your Monday 42 Tuesday, maybe a flurry or two on Wednesday with drier weather through the rest of the work week. For another look at your hyper local forecast as we continue to watch the storm heading into our area. And Alex, I'm seeing some parts on this map showing that snow is expected in some parts of the Hudson Valley on the back end of it, Nadia. Tomorrow morning, we will have a couple of flakes fly and yeah, even some accumulating snow weight of the north and west. But let's first talk about the rain coming in our direction this afternoon. It's still tucked away pretty far to our south. And so we're good here in the Hudson Valley for the morning. We have some areas of fog, but we also have some areas of sunshine. So we'll take it. And certainly if you have any plans before noon, you're good to go. Wind is pretty light for the first part of the day. You would have no idea that a storm was coming except for the fact that it feels a little different out there, it feels a lot warmer than it usually is. This time of the year, we even have temperatures in the fifties in some spots this morning that above average for the afternoon when the afternoon arrives. Now we're starting to kick in some showers. This is two o'clock, four o'clock. Look, we've got some rain passing through at six o'clock still and we continue to see the rain pretty much all through the evening. Some of the worst of the rain will be eight to about midnight or so tonight, it's also quite breezy, 20 to 30 mile per hour wind gusts. You factor in several hours of rain and now you've got some trees coming down, release some branches and that could knock out power. Here's four o'clock in the morning. If you're a really early commuter, you're still dodging rain. And if you're in Sullivan and Ulster County, the high elevations of Ulster County, we're looking at cold enough temperatures for a few snowflakes and then a few flakes will mix in 6 a.m. But at this point, things are drying out. It does stay breezy pretty much all day Monday. In fact, some of the worst wind will be with the sunshine Monday afternoon. I wanna show you two different models here. This is one model showing you the rain all the way up to midnight about an inch or so in White Plains and Yonkers and then it picks up to two inches but notice how close we are to that really heavy rain over Connecticut and Long Island. This other model actually will bring in some of that heavier rain off to our east. I'm gonna show it to you coming up on the other side of the break. But I also wanna show you the winter storm warning in effect for the higher elevations of Ulster County and the advisory in effect for Sullivan. I thought that was kind of important to get to. So I will show you the difference in the rain totals coming up. But a little more good news once we get through Monday, it's totally dry for work week.

All right time. Now for another look at your hyper local forecast and Alex, we are expecting rain to move through and also some pretty, pretty bad winds. Yeah, the late afternoon, the evening, the overnight, it's gonna be really rough, but it's not bad out there now. So, run your errands and do what you have to do. It's actually a pretty good morning. But by the end of the day, 2 to 4 inches of rain that's gonna bring some street flooding and wind gusts 40 to 60 MPH. We're expecting some power outages with that. So let's got you through it. So majority of the morning, we're just looking at sprinkles around lunchtime, some pockets of heavy rain. Wind isn't really too bad here yet and the rain is scattered. I am expecting though that you will absolutely need the umbrella by noon time and the rain will continue throughout the afternoon. Throughout the evening, there will be a few little breaks, but a lot of this rain is very persistent. This is 6 p.m. Now we're starting to get in on a little bit of wind about 30 mile per hour winds at six o'clock, 78 o'clock. Now we're upgrading to almost 40 mile per hour winds. There's some break between the heaviest rain. We probably have our first round in the afternoon and our second round in the evening time, this is 11 o'clock at night. A squall line sets up across the island. I think it really gets its act together somewhere over eastern Nassau County or Western Suffolk. And then it just pushes through very slowly overnight. So, while we're sleeping tonight, we dealing with some really decent downpours and rumbles of thunder as well as the wind. It's going to be ridiculous. So again, a little rain this morning, but not much. You see the rain totals by four o'clock or still under an inch for many of us. But there could be some localized flooding around dinner time. Here's what one model has for the heaviest rain. So it kind of sets it up more to Nassau and Western Suffolk where you see the red color that's localized flooding without a doubt on your streets. This is another model and some really solid heavy rain, but this is a little bit more toward Western Suffolk. So expect the rain all the way through the evening. It's 100% guarantee. And then for morning commuters tomorrow, early morning, we still have some issues with rain. But by the time you get to the mid-morning, it's out of here and it is still breezy on Monday, it'll be sunny and it will be windy all day. 45 is your high feels like 30. So, and the whole work week looks dry. So once we get through today, it's gonna really clear out the air, that's for sure.

Heavy rain, strong wind gusts which could cause some power outages as well as slick road conditions and just take your time over the next several hours because we are looking at the rain getting steadier and heavier as the afternoon and evening progress. Going to see those winds pick up periods of rain and then windswept soaking rain which could cause areas of flooding, especially from Bergen County down to Middlesex County and then more of that rain the early morning hours, maybe even a few snowflakes mixing in towards the Delaware water gap into Sussex, Warren Hunton and Morris County. So definitely take your time because the roads are going to be slick mornings on 12 on Monday. We'll be starting at 4:30 a.m. because of the inclement weather and we're just going to be dealing with the aftermath. Lots of rain is in the forecast. Look at this area in yellow northeast Jersey could see that scattered flash flooding really. That shot is everywhere across the garden state. Looking at underpasses roads, streams drains all could overflow their banks as the system pushing on in from our west going to see lots of rain already moving in from Pennsylvania, a few scattered showers here and there as we are going to be seeing this continue, even some thunder and lightning already popping up throughout the tri state area. And that's only going to increase as the day goes on with 1 to 3 inches of rain. Locally, higher amounts along the Jersey shore with gusts up to 30 to 40 MPH. So trash cans could be knocked over, secure them holiday decorations, anchor them down inflatables. Might want to have them deflated too because we are looking at this heavy rain from the afternoon and evening and they become more widespread overnight. So definitely take your time as you go into the early morning hours, maybe even a few flakes up to the north of the I 80 Corridor, then things cool down forties and drier into next week.
