A boat went up in flames overnight in Port Jefferson Harbor.

Fire officials say the vessel was unoccupied and secured when it caught fire overnight in the west side of the harbor.

Officials say the tidal current, wind and heavy rain complicated the effort, but firefighters were eventually able to get it under control.

The vessel sank due to the extensive damage.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.
