Feb. 6 was the one-year mark since the first known COVID-19-related death in the United States.
It happened in Santa Clara county, California. In just a year, Johns Hopkins reports over 460,000 Americans have died from the virus.
Experts are continuing to stress the importance of getting vaccinated so that our country can be protected.
"When a vaccine becomes available to you, get vaccinated,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci. “You will not only be protecting yourself, your family, but you'll be making a major step in a positive way to protecting the community."
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports just over 39 million vaccines have been administered in the U.S.
