The Van Brunt Stillhouse is making lemonade out of lemons, or in this case, vodka into hand sanitizer.
The distillery closed its doors to patrons due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Daric Schlesselman, who works at Van Brunt Stillhouse, says that the alcohol goes through guidelines created by the World Health Organization to turn it into a bacteria fighter.
He says that the distillery is working with another brewery to take all of their expired beer and repurpose it into sanitizer.
Schlesselman says that hand sanitizer is not as lucrative as selling whiskey, but is glad to still be working.
The distillery is selling the product on its website, and for each bottle sold, one will be donated to a nonprofit operating on the front lines of the pandemic.
