Dozens of Bronx residents flocked to the Van Cortlandt Park Pool on Wednesday for its reopening after it was closed for multiple days.
The pool was closed off over the hot July 4 weekend, and some Bronx residents tell News 12 they had to travel over 30 minutes to find the next nearest pool to cool off.
The city's Parks Department says that the pool was built back in 1970 and was forced to close due to a mechanical issue. It adds that there is a $19.9 million project to fully reconstruct the pool in 2028.
