In late June, security cameras caught a group of young kids vandalizing the Allerton community fridge.
Owner Ignacio Collado was donated a new fridge. One day after it was operating, the same group of vandals struck again.
In surveillance video given to News 12, the vandals were caught leaving the fridge door open, spoiling the food inside. Moments later another child knocked over a box of fresh produce.
"We're just trying to do a good thing for the community. This is just so heartbreaking," Collado said as he recounted the moments he saw it happen.
Collado contacted police but has yet to hear back. He noted he wants the community to know this is happening to stop the pattern of vandalism.
Collado said this won't discourage him. He said he will continue to fill the community fridge to serve the families in his community.
