Video shows the dramatic moments when a Bronx teen saved his mom’s life as she struggled to breathe during an asthma attack.
Compression and rescue breaths were just some of the basic skills used by 18-year-old Ivan Gomez, after seeing his mother become unconscious.
“Her lips turned purple, she turned pale and I turned her on her side,” said Gomez.
Nearly two weeks later, sitting side by side, the mother and son recalled the horrifying moment to News 12
Everything was caught on the family’s surveillance camera. “I let 911 know and that's when my police training with the Explorers helped me save my mom's life with CPR,” said Gomez.

The NYPD Explorer, who has a little over a year under his belt, says his training kept him focused until the EMTs arrived.
“When they finished putting the tubes on her they said, you saved your mom's life, I am very proud of you,” said Gomez.
