Surveillance video has been released showing the moments a tow truck hit and killed a man in Wakefield.

The victim was identified as 64-year-old S.M. Akhtaruzzaman. His family is now demanding justice.

Akhtaruzzaman was killed just before 1 p.m. on Monday.

Witnesses say a tow truck driver hit him while turning onto Bronxwood Avenue and drove off.
"We heard the impact, it sounded like two cars hitting each other. As we looked in the mirror, we saw the guy laying on floor in the street. And we see the [tow truck] drive away from the accident," said a witness. "He passes our vehicle and at that point, we know he's not gonna stop."

Video then shows the vehicle approach a red light and moments later, drive right through it.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A witness said he followed the black tow truck until he saw the driver jump out and take off on foot.

News 12 spoke with Akhataruzzaman's family off-camera.

His youngest daughter says they are *demanding* justice and they want the driver caught.
