Video shows officer being attacked by 3 men on Lafayette Avenue

Police tell News 12 a 33-year-old off-duty male officer got into an argument with three other men in front of a bodega at 13-18 Lafayette Ave. a little before noon. The situation escalated and became violent.

A newly released video shows the moments an off-duty police officer was attacked by three people Monday. The man has been hospitalized for his injuries.
Police tell News 12 a 33-year-old off-duty male officer got into an argument with three other men in front of a bodega at 13-18 Lafayette Ave. a little before noon. The situation escalated and became violent.
From the security footage, two men could be seen grabbing the off-duty officer while the third hits him with a stick or some piece of wood causing it to shatter. Police say the two others also punched the victim in his face and upper body. He was admitted to NYC Health and Hospitals Jacobi. He is expected to be OK.
Police say they say they don't have any additional information on the identities of the suspects. Police urge anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
