The community of Brooklyn's East Flatbush neighborhood came together Tuesday to remember the lives of those lost in a shooting outside a wake Monday night.
Officials say gunfire erupted outside of the Emmanuel Church of God on East 26th Street and Flatbush Avenue Monday night as mourners gathered for the wake of 38-year-old Jose Luis Robles.
According to police, 44-year-old Ronald Murphy, of Cypress Hills, and 40-year-old Sharieff Clayton, of the Bronx, were killed. Two women and two more men were also hit by bullets, but are in stable condition.
A vigil was held for Murphy and Clayton outside the church where the shooting occurred. Prayers were said and candles were lit to honor the men.
Police were still on the scene Tuesday collecting evidence as they tried to piece together what happened. Investigators say up to 15 rounds were fired, and they believe there were multiple shooters.
Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from a long-running feud between two men. The witnesses said the man Clayton was arguing with left the church and returned in a car with two other men before the shooting started.
The NYPD is offering a $2,500 reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
