A vigil was held Thursday in memory of 19-year-old Dereck Chen, who lost his life in a shooting at BJ's Wholesale Club.
Thursday marks exactly one week since Chen was killed.
Chen was with friends late Thursday night when police say he was targeted in the BJ's parking garage elevator. Edino Tzul, 18, was allegedly in the elevator and demanded Chen hand over his backpack. Chen resisted and was shot multiple times in the face and shoulder.
Tzul currently faces multiple charges, including murder.
Assembly Member William Colton, Chen’s family and dozens of community members are expected to come to pay their respects.
