Volunteers with 161st Street BID celebrate Earth Day by tending to community garden

A handful of volunteers gathered along 161st and Gerard streets on Thursday to plant daffodils and cherry blossoms, and to listen to live jazz.

Volunteers with the 161st Street Business Improvement District celebrated Earth Day through a project the helps the community.
A handful of volunteers gathered along 161st and Gerard streets on Thursday to plant daffodils and cherry blossoms, and to listen to live jazz.
EARTH DAY: Go Green! 
For the last eight years, the 161st Street BID has welcomed people from the neighborhood to get their hands in the soil and help keep the community garden alive.
The garden is located on what used to a garbage dump.
