Rep. Jamaal Bowman has won the Democratic primary for the 16th Congressional District.
Bowman fended off two Westchester County legislators - Vedat Gashi and Catherine Parker.
The newly redrawn district cuts out part of the Bronx and includes more affluent Westchester communities.
Bowman says his record on education, climate change and housing make him a strong candidate, but he still has more to do, including universal child care and paid leave.
Bowman will face Republican Dr. Miriam Flisser in November.
