Wade's Dairy held its final food giveaway event in Bridgeport on Saturday.
The Wade's Dairy Food Giveaway has taken place 44 times since the pandemic began.
Wade's Dairy CEO Doug Wade worked with the Connecticut Food Bank and Harry Bell, of the nonprofit Color a Positive Thought, to pass out farm-to-table fresh food for tens of thousands of families.
Wade says the state of Connecticut is no longer providing the resources to make the giveaways possible.
"I am not sure who is making that decision, but if they came down here, they would certainly see the need that we see week in and week out,” Wade says.
Wade says he plans to find a way to keep giving to the community.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he's pushing for emergency funding to help keep other programs like this one from ending.
