An Orange County community activist is hoping to help prostate cancer patients after his own diagnosis last year.

Luis Abramson, from Warwick, is opening a food pantry on Grove Street in Middletown.

The 43-year-old wants to help people diagnosed with cancer offset their food expenses while undergoing treatment.

Abramson says there is a need for more community services and help which he found out while struggling financially during his own medical journey.

"Organic and healthy eating, it's so much more costly and it really was daunting to see how expensive this was," he says.

Abramson says men in their early 40s should begin to get screened for prostate cancer.

There will be a car show in Chester on July 31 to help raise money for the food pantry.
