Police say a Washington man is charged with murder for a 2023 strangulation in Crotona Park.
Essa Kouyate, 26, of Seedro Valley, is accused of killing 48-year-old Yaya Kouyate inside 1463 Hoe Ave.
Authorities say police responded to Yaya Kouyate's 12th-floor apartment on April 14 around 10:30 a.m.
Officers discovered Yaya unconscious and unresponsive, lying face up on the bathroom floor with obvious signs of trauma to his neck.
EMS pronounced the 48-year-old dead at the scene, according to police.
The NYPD did not confirm the relationship between the victim and his alleged killer.
