A Bronx company is helping to make sure children in the borough have a new set of wheels during the holiday season.
The
Waste Connections city hauling division building in Mott Haven was transformed into Santa's workshop Sunday. The business says since 1997, it's been an annual tradition at Waste Connections branches across the country - getting the families of employees together for a day to build bikes and then give them away.
After all 90 bikes are built, they're brought to precincts, little leagues and schools around the Bronx - who then donate them to children in the area.
Bikes will start being given to kids next week, with events all the way up until Christmas.
