Schools Chancellor David Banks announced his extensive vision plan to transform New York City's school system.
At the core of the plan, four key points were introduced to improve the school experience and make students fully engaged in the classroom.
The plan includes:
  • Creating a career pathway initiative to connect students to career goals through early college credit
  • STEM programs and creating a digital learning advisory committee to improve the experience of virtual learning
  • Prioritizing wellness programs
  • Engaging and supporting families to be true partners in the city Department of Education system
Banks says the current educational system is broken and dysfunctional and that he plans to fix it. The chancellor says his team will put his plan in place by engaging parents, teachers, students, local unions and the community to transform the largest public school system in the country.
