Mayor: Summer Youth Employment Program expected to engage 35,000 to start Monday
Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday that the Summer Youth Employment Program’s Summber Bridge program will begin Monday.

The SYEP Summer Bridge will engage 35,000 young New Yorkers ages 14 to 24 this summer.

In addition to the SYEP program starting Monday, the city will roll out 1.5 new miles of Open Streets across all five boroughs today.

Open Play Streets will allow for sports, activities and crafts to take place. This includes basketball, frisbee, softball, whiffle ball, kickball, giant board games, reading corners, dance classes and crafts.

All programming will creatively respond to distancing guidelines.

The mayor also announced that Alternate Side Parking regulations will be suspended next week through Sunday, Aug. 2.

ASP regulations will resume the following wee Monday, Aug. 3 through Saturday, Sept. 5.
