An abandoned hospital in Morris Heights that has been converted into affordable housing will soon welcome new tenants.

News 12 took a tour of Starhill Phase 1 at 1600 Grand Ave. where 326 affordable apartments will be located.

The income needed for the apartments ranges from $15,000 to $80,000. Rent in the most expensive unit, a three-bedroom apartment, is $1,500.

Some apartments will be occupied by low-income families and people coming out of shelters with behavioral health struggles.

The Phase 1 tenant lottery is closed but Phase 2 of the project is being constructed and should be accepting applications by early next year.
