Archestratus Books and Foods offers everything from cookbooks to Sicilian street food and fresh produce.
Five years ago, Paige Lipari started Archestratus Books and Foods. During the pandemic, she noticed a great need in the community.
"All these restaurants had to close and there were so many farmers that would supply restaurants and they had all these beautiful things growing, but no place to sell their produce," she says.
That was when the bookstore on Huron Street starting to sell the produce, at one point becoming a full-fledged grocery store.
Customers like Natasha Bali give the selection a thumbs up.
"This farm started on rooftops in Greenpoint, so that's really cool. They're supporting a lot of local businesses, and I support that," Bali says.
Besides the usual limit on the amount of customers allowed inside and mask requirements, Lipari says there are even more precautions.
"Everyone has to wear gloves, because I just feel like you feel safe to browse and touch things and pick things up when everyone is wearing gloves, and you don't have to worry about who has touched what," she says.
The Greenpoint business started online sales due to the pandemic and plans to continue that along with offering its farm fresh produce from now on.
