A small cafe and wine bar has brought French cuisine to Brooklyn for the past nine years.
Couleur Café, like many small businesses, was strongly impacted by the pandemic, but is doing everything it can to stay open.
Couleur Café in Park Slope is owned by Brooklyn-native Kristen Lynch and her husband who is French.
“It's been the most challenging time that we've ever faced in our nine years of business,” says Lynch.
Having to adapt to the limitations from the pandemic, they're open for take-out, have a few tables outside and are trying other ways to survive.
“One of the things that we've been doing is offering groceries. You can buy cases of wine, you can buy cases of olives. You can buy pastries in bulk,” says Lynch.
For Lynch and her family, the cafe has been a labor of love. However, she says it's been tough during the pandemic, reporting an 80% loss in revenue.
Despite the losses, Lynch says she is grateful for her neighbors.
“We are so grateful that our community continues to come and support us as much as they can,” says Lynch.
They're working hard to stay open in their community.
“We're really just like digging in and holding on. Our mantra is we're going to get through this,” says Lynch.
