A luxury street-wear store in the Bronx is bringing world-wide designer brands to the birthplace of hip-hop.

Elevated by O Fresh is a luxury street-wear style gallery in Melrose with items from all over the world.

"All the brands here are from L.A.; they are from Paris; they are from Italy, we really want to get high quality street-wear brands; they are unique and fresh to the customer," says Danielle Appleton, creative director and manager of Elevated by O Fresh.

The shop carries high quality T-shirts, denim, footwear and accessories.

The owner, known as "O Fresh" by his clients, is no stranger to the hip-hop and fashion industries.

"He has been in New York selling since early 90s mixtapes on 196th Street,” says Appleton.

The minimalist spot is located on Third Avenue.

"This is the birthplace of hip-hop so that's why having a store like this here is very important,” says Appleton.

Some regulars in the store are very familiar with the music industry.

"We get a lot of celebrities that come shop here. Young Ma comes here all the time, Little TJ comes here all the time, so that’s also something, you never know who might be in the back shopping,” says Appleton.

For celebrity clients, Appleton says there is a VIP experience.

“This is the VIP area, this is where our celebrity clients will come; they will let us know they are in town, and we will set this up for them, pick out brands they like and we will go ahead and get everything ready for them to come and shop in a comfortable space,” says Appleton.

Despite being shut down for six weeks because of the coronavirus, their customers have remained loyal.

"After corona customers have been coming back support us. It’s a Black-owned business and customers really love coming here,” says Appleton.
