Westchester Executive George Latimer says COVID-19 is on a downturn in the county.
On Monday, he said the Omicron surge is "declaratively over," and added that the level of infection is now much more manageable.
With the county down to fewer than 1,000 active cases, Latimer said the focus now is to get people to get their COVID-19 booster shot.
"We want to make sure the third shot, the AKA booster shot, is taken by everybody that's had the first two shots to protect you all the more. Then, also the pediatric vaccination shots for young people," Latimer said.
Latimer also said outbreaks in schools have also been down, despite the state lifting its mask mandate for classrooms this month.
