A Weston chess champ says he is the one to beat at a national tournament in St. Louis Friday.
Hans Niemann, 18, says he knows his way around a chess board and has played in tournaments all over the world.
Niemann will be competing in the National Junior Chess Championships and is the top seed in the 10-player round robin tournament.
The former Weston High School student says he played online a lot during the pandemic.
He says a lot of young players get pushed by their parents and that he pushes himself.
The winner gets $6,000 and automatically qualifies for next year's U.S. Championship.
