New York City commuters were warned to bundle up and hold tight to their belongings as the city is under a wind alert with gusts that could reach over 50 mph.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 11 p.m.
The New York City Emergency Management recommends residents to plan ahead by charging batteries in case of power outages and bringing inside loose objects that could be blown away.
All previous restrictions for trucks on the Verrazano Bridge have been lifted, but wind-related concerns are sticking around. A sign now sits at the entrance of the bridge warning drivers to reduce their speed to 20 miles per hour for their own safety.
At this hour, empty trailers and tandems are still prohibited from the bridge.
