By so many metrics, last season was incredibly successful for the Bronx Bombers. They won 99 games, won their first division title since 2019, came within one round of the World Series and had Aaron Judge.

It was a season for the ages and one of the best in the history of this franchise, but still no World Series win.

Priority one in the offseason was to re-sign Judge with the new title as captain.

Amazingly, Judge might not be the Yankee who fans are most excited to see. Yankee fans like nothing more than a homegrown player, and they have that rookie Anthony Volpe, a New Jersian living out a lifelong dream as the team's starting shortstop.

The 21-year-old Volpe reminded fans of another 21-year-old who was the Opening Day shortstop in 1996 - Derek Jeter.

Baseball will look different this year. There's a pitch clock, which will still take time to get used to, but it shortened the average length of spring training games by 26 minutes compared to last year.

There's also new scheduling including a lot more interleague opponents, evidenced by the Giants and the Phillies, which are the first two teams into Yankee Stadium this week.

The goal in the Bronx remains the same - Get to the World Series and Win It - neither of which has been done in 14 years.
