Jose Alvarado has a history of beating the odds. He did it at Christ the King High School winning two city championships. It happened again at Georgia Tech, going from a three-star recruit to ACC Defensive Player of the Year and second-team All Conference.
Now he is taking on the NBA.
After going undrafted, he has signed a two-way deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Alvarado tells News 12 he “stood the course and put 10 toes down and do what I always wanted to domake it to the NBA.”
The point guard says he’s going into training camp with a positive attitude.
“I know that belong here,” says Alvarado. “I just gotta keep learning and showing people that I do.”
The naysayers do not bother him. His message is, “Some people still don’t believe I’m ready for the NBA. We don’t know,” says Alvarado. “I’m probably not ready right now, but I promise you I will be ready as soon as I can.”
