The Willis Avenue United Methodist Church held its final Sunday service this week.
Parishioners say the church has been a staple in their community for 150 years, but Methodist officials informed them that they were closing the facility at the end of the month.
They cited a decline in membership and insufficient funding.
Members say that another denomination may take over the space, and although it may not be Methodist, they would be grateful for the building to remain a church.
"No matter what you put here, it's a centerpiece," says Corey McIntosh, a lay speaker. "And it's a centerpiece for people to just continue to be a part of their faith."
