Luna Park, known for its thrilling rides, fun activities, and tasty treats, was transformed on Saturday into a winter wonderland.

New Yorkers were front and center to witness the Christmas magic in Luna Park. This is the first time it opened its doors for the winter season.

Alessandro Zamperla is the president of Central Amusement International. He said it's important to bring this festival to Coney Island.

"Right now, it's a very tough time, and so to be able to really give the joy, bring that fun bring people together, it's really an amazing blessing," Zamperla said.

The festival is called "Frost Fest." It's a new winter experience that's lighting up more than just the rides.

"Coney Island is about enjoyment, it's about love, it's about bringing people in communities together," said Council Member Ari Kagan.

Kagan was one of the many attendees that were bundled up enjoying the holiday fun. People were in Rudolph's Ice-Skating Rink, spilling their secrets in Santa's Wonderland and taking in all the Christmas joy.

Visitors waited hours just to witness a tree lighting. The tree stands 30 feet tall, and the Coney Island community couldn't be happier.

"What we're doing is about passion, so to see the people actually appreciate, they come and have a great time. They're laughing. It's the best feeling," Zamperla said.

From holiday lights to seasonal sips and bites, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The festival is open until Jan. 7, 2024.
