407ds agoA surprise came for coach Clarence Mugsy Sunday when he was recognized by the New York Knicks as Jr. NBA Coach of the Year.
Mugsy coaches Wiz Kids basketball in the Bronx, a community basketball league he started over a decade ago, made up of kids from the area. On Sunday, his contributions to his community paid off.
The NBA Jr. Coach of the Year is an annual award honoring youth basketball coaches nationally who have made a difference in their community.
The award is also paired with a $22,000 check for the coach and his team. Mugsy said this was an absolute honor.
He plans to use some of the money to fund travel for the Wiz Kids and the after-school program overall.
