A woman hit by a stray bullet when police were pursuing a suspect earlier this month says she deserves $10 million in compensation from the NYPD and the city during a press conference Wednesday.
Irene Perez, 46, was one of the two victims caught in the crossfire between police and a suspected drug dealer back on Dec. 5 near West 183rd Street and Loring Place.
Perez was hit by a bullet from a police officer's weapon as she was leaving a day care center. She says she is still recovering from the shooting.
Perez's lawyer, Sandy Rubenstein, says Perez spent 13 days in the hospital and had three surgeries.
Rubenstein says Perez's parents are worried about their daughter's condition, and that her mother hopes the family gets justice.
Perez says she went back to the hospital after the press conference because she was still experiencing pain.
