Woman says she was verbally assaulted by Suffolk police officer following shooting in Dix Hills

A woman alleges members of the Suffolk Police Department were biased toward her.
Cindy O'Pharrow says she was verbally assaulted and physically removed from an ambulance by an officer as she tried to comfort a man who was shot in Dix Hills last month.
Her attorney says a lieutenant on the scene also refused to help her.
“He ignored her and then when she said she was going to make a report, he cursed her and told her she could call whoever the ‘F’ she wanted because he was the boss out there,” the lawyer said.
O'Pharrow says she believes she never would have been treated that way if she and the victim were white.
A notice of claim has been filed.
The Suffolk Police Department says it does not comment on pending litigation.
