News 12 is highlighting a trailblazer focused on helping teens and seniors in Brooklyn.

Angel King brings the music, dancing and smiles wherever she goes. As the president of the Bruekelen Houses Resident Association in Brownsville, she is passionate about helping people.

King made history as one of the youngest people to ever sit on the board when she was just 19 years old. More than a decade later, she's still helping teens and seniors and hosting the recent Valentine's Day dance for the older generation.

Doral Health and Wellness Center is where she connects seniors from the Bruekelen Houses and neighboring NYCHA developments with the care they need, both physically and mentally.

She's also making sure NYCHA residents have healthy food to eat. The teens she mentors regularly put together food pantries.

So, where does King get her inspiration?

"My dad, Mr. Charles King," says King. "It's bestowed upon me to just push forth that effort and continue on with that family tradition to always create change and make change for others."

Her father was a freedom fighter in the Civil Rights movement. He marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fighting discrimination and racism making change for others to live happier and healthier lives.
