News 12 is highlighting women making a difference in New Jersey this Women's History Month. In Red Bank, a woman-owned business is doing a great deal of good for her community.
The business is called Open Heart Yoga.
Mary Ansell practices what she preaches. For every student who signs up for a class, she donates a class to a worker or volunteer at 10 different charities in her community of Red Bank.
"I wanted as many people as possible to be able to experience it,” says Ansell. “Not just people who are able to afford it. I wanted to take the scariness out of it, it's not about the pose. It's about getting in and out of the pose."
She's teaching students to take what they learn on the yoga mat and apply it in real life.
"Health, wellness, nutrition,” says Robin Klein, with Open Heart Yoga. “It helps keep the body strong, keeps the mind strong. It's not just the hour that you're here at the studio, it really is a life practice."
The studio in Red Bank offers in-person and online classes.
