9h agoEmmanuel Presbyterian Reformed Church in Woodlawn hosted its annual celebration of Ghanaian culture Sunday, marking 26 years of honoring its roots through traditional dance, music and worship.
The church, which serves one of the largest Ghanaian communities in the country, was filled with parishioners dressed in vibrant traditional attire including intricately woven kente cloth as they paid homage to their heritage.
“It reminds us of where we came from and helps us also to make sure that, while we are here, we bring all the rich cultural values and Ghanaian authentic traditions,” said Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso.
The celebration wasn’t just for elders in the congregation. It also served as an opportunity to pass cultural traditions on to the younger generation.
