A World War II veteran was greeted with a surprise parade to celebrate his 95th birthday.
Friends, family and fellow members of the Knights of Columbus joined local police officers, firefighters and members of the Coast Guard outside of Frank DeVita’s home in Bridgewater. More than 100 cars showed up for the parade.
DeVita is one of the last surviving World War II veterans who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. DeVita served as a Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class with the Coast Guard.
DeVita also got a surprise FaceTime call from the commander of the Coast Guard, who presented him with a Good Conduct Medal.
