WWII U.S. Army veteran Cpl. Angel Manuel Rodriguez, of the legendary 65th Infantry Regiment, the Borinqueneers, was honored on Friday.
The 95-year-old received a Congressional Gold Medal and a Certificate of Recognition for his heroic service.
The Congressional Gold Medal is one of the highest civilian honors bestowed by Congress. It acknowledges the bravery, sacrifice and legacy of the 65th Infantry Regiment - an all-Puerto Rican unit that played a critical role during some of the most difficult battles in World War II.
