Yankee Stadium hosted more than 1,300 runners for the eighth annual Damon Runyon 5K on Sunday.
The run has raised more than $4 million for cancer research since it began in 2009.
The race's course included the stadium's ramps, stairs and field.
The run is in honor of Damon Runyon, a baseball journalist who died of throat cancer in 1946.
Since his foundation began, $300 million has funded for more than 3,000 scientists looking to find a cure for cancer.
Thomas Vierbuchen, one of the scientists funded by the foundation, says he hopes he can find a cure.
"The kind of research Damon Runyon funds is stuff that's going to have a wide impact," he says.
Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio was on the foundation's board of directors when it first started, and Mickey Mantle was one of its biggest fundraisers.
