Gov. Andrew Cuomo lifted all COVID-19 restrictions across the entire state once New York hit a 70% vaccination rate, which means Yankee Stadium can host 100% of its fans.
Restaurants and surrounding businesses in the area also benefited from the lifting of restrictions after suffering economic losses over the last year.
Business owners say they were excited to celebrate the return of fans in the stadium with live music at some of their restaurants.
The Yankees lost to the Oakland Athletics 5-3.
