A program at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore let young patients become tourists for a day and experience the sights and sounds of the Big Apple without leaving the hospital.
Thanks to the hospital’s partnership with the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Hospital Outreach Program, more than 40 children got to hop on a “tour bus” and make 10 pretend stops at various New York City landmarks in the hospital’s lobby.
They experienced iconic activities like being painted by a caricature artists in Times Square and locking a message on the Brooklyn Bridge.
“Families are going through some pretty difficult situations and to see the kids having fun, being themselves and seeing the families learning to work together and just having a good time while they’re doing the projects, the activities that they’re working on, it’s unbelievable,” said an organizer.
