A COVID-19 vaccination clinic opened Saturday morning at
Plainfield High School, which will administer shots to anyone age 12 and older.
Adolescents will need to bring a parent or guardian and an
ID card to get to get vaccinated at the clinic, which is being run by
Walgreens. It ends at 4 p.m.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food
and Drug Administration gave Pfizer's shot the greenlight this week, saying it
would be available for children as young as 12 under the same emergency use
authorization granted to adults. The action opens vaccinations to approximately
17 million adolescents in the U.S.
In clinical trials of 2,000 children, the Pfizer vaccine
revealed a 100% efficacy rate.
The vaccine is also available at Bergen County and Morris
County megasites and at CVS and Rite Aid.
There are more than 3.7 million New Jersey residents who
have been vaccinated so far. Another 915,000 is needed to reach the state’s
goal by the end of June.
