Reporters, News Mar Mar, you know, while the views are amazing, the goal is to recreate the iconic 1932 photograph lunch at top of sky screen. You all know that photo when 11 iron workers casually just ate lunch on a beam above the big, I don't think they have the restraints like there visitors are giving the experience, rave reviews. It was really fun, really um exciting because you could see the whole city and you were really high up. Wasn't too scary because you were still secured in place and it was really fun. Brave kid. Yeah. To access the beam, you can add on the experience to your top of the rock observation deck ticket. It's open seven days a week and don't forget every single Thursday we feature some of the awesome getaways that are just around the corner.

If you're looking for indoor activities, it'll get you out of the cold. We have the place for you. Yes. Our Shannon Lanier takes us to a Melville hot spot in this week's road trip. Close to home, the winter weather may have taken away your opportunity to comfortably play sports outside, but that's no reason to be inactive. Just come to all sports in Melville on Long Island. This huge 48,000 square foot facility is a one stop shop for all things sports and you can play them all year round. It's unique and different because it has every type of sport for all ages. Uh, we're also completely climate control. They can come in from the cold and in the summertime come in from the heat here. You'll find deck hockey. Oh, yes. Basketball, volleyball, pickleball. Oh, yeah. Yes. Soccer, lacrosse and an all purpose speed and agility training area. To name a few. We have all types of trainings for the young kids to the older kids. We have speed and agility. We have deck hockey training. We also do, uh, a large amount of private parties, birthday parties, sweet sixteens bar mitzvahs, even 50th. Birthday parties here. And if you're looking for a little friendly competition, they have that too. We have tons of events here. Wrestling, the UFC fights, cheerleading volleyball tournaments, regardless of your fitness level. It's always a good idea to get out there and get active from all sports in Melville. If winter adventure is calling, then we have the perfect destination for you. And this week's road trip, close to home news. 12 photojournalist, Laurie Goliath takes us to Middlefield where snow is guaranteed. It's like a wonderland. You're just like floating on the snow. You're just gliding. We're at Powder Ridge Park in Middlefield, Connecticut. I like it. It's pretty nice. I've never actually been here before. It's fun. Really. We have something for everyone we focus on, on really what I call easy fun skiing, snowboarding, uh, snow tubing. We're bringing you to the top of the hill. You're sliding down on tubes, hold on. Try not to spin around. I know it's hard. Oh, I like it a lot. We're the only resort in the state to allow snow biking and snow skating. A winter sport. We are here. We're ready to go and ready to play Da Malenko and KT. I teamed up together to create an temperature independent snow factory can make snow up to 80 °F. You know, it feels like real snow smells like real snow. So we guaranteed snow tubing and skiing from now on starting Black Friday every year. Hi, I'm Hunter. I'm a snowboard coach. I mean, my favorite part is probably, probably just hitting some rails and jumps. I don't know. It's like peaceful when you're on the snow. Like, no, you can't really find the peace anywhere else. It's really fun. Come down, try to snowboard and I'll be more than welcome to teach you. But it's really about much more than skiing and boards. We have made Powder Ridge a year round mountain resort. We start now early spring with downhill mountain biking paintball. We've partnered with Hogan's Alley that was over in Meriden for years. We have during the summer slide, the slope which is inflatable giant water slides coming down the side of the mountain. Our Mountain Music Series Fire at the Ridge is a slopeside restaurant. You can just about ski in. It's, it's a really nice restaurant with a full bar. We have eight hotel rooms which we actually call day rooms because we set them up more like a living room set up. And we also have several gazebos that are heated which you can rent those spaces as well. So you can have your own private lodge or kind of mini lodge. This is the perfect spot to come. If you're in a family or a group of friends, just hang out with your friends or your family. We should come here because our staff are focused on making sure that your experience is fun and enjoyable for the whole family. I mean, it's really cool. I mean, it makes a lot of people happy and it's just what they need a great place to be.

I studied Battery all my life and you know, I want to bring it to people. You can create memories and communicate with somebody. Not really about the products. It's about the process painting and feeling free. There is a lot of reservation of, oh, I'm not an artist. I can make a mistake. I say this is just for fun. Do you do your handprint on the lease? Mess it up is a part of the process. We can always clean it up. Painting is very relaxing. If you make an accident, it will come when your child claims something that oh maybe it's Thanksgiving platter. They feel like so proud that they did something real. This also supports sustainability customers meeting me in town and like, oh my gosh, we use your platter, the platter that we made here like 10 years ago. What we hear from people is that we have the biggest selection of pottery pieces because we are crazy. We have the most personal approach and we are there to lead you to the process as much as you need and as little as you want, sometimes I do the finishes for them, maybe a little detail. The kids like to have eyelashes on princesses. You can walk in any time any day. Also, reserving a table nine is great. We have adult parties too. Team building parties. We do sip and paint parties and that's when we see those customers coming all the time. They make friends here, they compare to coming and creating something. So that's when I step back and I feel I accomplished something.

Here's road trip, close to home and this week's road trip close to home. We're at Nickelodeon Universe and American Dreams. Oh, to the show. Razer Cheapest president. Welcome to Nickelodeon Universe. Eight acres of family fun entertainment. There was some great rice for adults as well as the little kitties. It's the largest indoor amusement park inside the western hemisphere. People love Nickelodeon. Everything from spongebob. This is Donatello. He's a teenage mutant ninja turtle. The excitement of Nickelodeon is really what I believe brings people here. People love that excitement of the classic Nick. So this is the slime streak. This is one of my favorites. This is a classic roller coaster. A lot, a lot of fun. There's two in fact that are based on the teenage mutant turtles. So there's the Shredder. This is the longest spinning roller coaster in the entire world and the Shell Razor. The show Razor is actually the steepest roller coaster in the world. We have some great performances here. Of course, you get to see spongebob. It is a national historic landmark where the legacy of a renowned artist was born News Twelve's Nikita Ramos takes us to the house of Edward Hopper on road trip. Close to home. If you don't recognize this name, you'll definitely recognize this iconic painting. What you also might not know is that Edward Hopper got his humble beginnings right here in Nyack. And we are taking you to the foundations of his artistic career on this road trip. Close to home, Hopper painted a lot of houses, but he only grew up in one and that's where the legacy began in 18 82. When Edward Hopper was born, he lived here until he was 26. And over the centuries, his home has transformed into the Edward Hopper House Museum and study center, understanding the role that this house, this household. But also nye played for the minute he could hold a pencil to when he was, you know, going to Paris to study, you know, on the banks of the Seine dive through the depths of his life with early sketches, collections, tools and more rotating exhibitions. Show Hopper's inspiration in today's artists and programs further immerse you into his legacy, Edward Hopper is probably one of the most famous and most iconic American realist painting paintings. He also focused on isolation and solitary moments of people's emotional experience. A narrative beyond the frame Hoppers can bridge the gap to today's and you can even walk in his forts in more ways than one. There is a small museum on the North shore that preserves the legacy of Long Island's railroad history. It's a rich history to our Angela Cascarano takes us there on this week's road trip close to home. On this road trip. Close to home, we had to the Oyster Bay Railroad Museum, a historic landmark that's considered president Theodore Roosevelt's presidential train station. We're in the 18 89 station building and the exciting thing about this structure is that it was renovated in 19 02 for the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt and it's a beautiful uh station with the cathedral ceilings inside the museum. You can check out dioramas like these. This is a historic Oyster Bay Railway. It dates back to the early 19 hundreds. This collection of lanterns was used by train conductors and engineers to signal to each other to move the train, keep it in place or proceed in a certain direction. Remember getting home from the train and meeting a ride and running into a phone booth. Well, they have one here too. You can check it out. This is an original bell from a steam locomotive in 1928. The experience here at the museum is going for a ride on the locomotive turn table. Part of the museum's rich history is checking out these old train locomotive. This one was part of the 1964 New York World's Fair where people were able to get in and take a photo of the Bay. Railroad Museum is open on the weekends through November for this road trip. Close to home. I'm Angela Cast News 12 Long Island. And today the town of Oyster Bay will dedicate a part of Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay in memory of President Theodore Roosevelt. Very cool. That ceremony will take place at 12 30.

Islanders aren't the only ones skating at UBS Arena anymore. Two outdoor ice rinks are now open for you and your family to enjoy. News. Twelve's John Dowing takes us to the opening of the park at UBS Arena with the drop of a puck. A new experience open for Islanders fans outside of UBS arena. Cool. I wanted to tell my friends about it too because it's the first time I've ever seen it. Northwell presents the park at S arena offers experiences for the whole family before Islanders games went skating on that. I went in like those like I things and then I went over there to Incent. Fans also could beat some Islanders legends like former captain Dennis Potvin. You can't sit in the dressing room and say I'm gonna lose. You've got to have that winning attitude, that feeling. And I think this promotes that because it energizes the fans as well. Fans say the energy felt here is contagious, gets like the whole crowd going, like gets everybody into the game pretty hype. It's nice, but this isn't just a space for fans, community members can learn to skate, play in pond hockey tournaments. And even learn to play hockey fans say they're excited to come back again. Why not keep it forever? It's still right. And you can enjoy all the fun here at the park until the end of February. February 25th.
