'Youth Empowerment Show' aims to inspire teens and children
Dozens of teens and children came together in Brooklyn Saturday for the "Youth Empowerment Show," an event geared toward inspiration.
Now in its third year, the event brought young people together to talk about current events and topics that are important to them, and also to have fun in an encouraging environment. It was held in Bed-Stuy.
Creator Carl Michel gets help through musicians, community leader and celebrities to inspire the teens and children. The young people then participate through the event by dancing, saying affirmations and having discussions with people they look up to.
Organizers say they want to reach as many young people as possible. They hope to complete a tour through all of the boroughs in the fall.
