82-unit affordable housing development coming to West Farms

Developers say occupancy is expected in January 2025 and individuals across various income levels can apply.

New affordable housing is coming to West Farms. Developers and elected officials celebrated with a groundbreaking today.
The 82-unit development will be located at 872 Bronx Park South. Sixteen of the units will house individuals who have intellectual or other developmental disabilities.
"A lot of times, folks with autism and other intellectual or developmental disabilities don't have the opportunity to live independently, and projects like this and others like it are a great way for folks to experience independent living," said Josh Scher, CFO of Birch Family Services.
The project cost around $43 million and was brought in partnership between DP group and Sycamore Birch Management LLC, along with multiple city agencies including the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities.
